Introducing you to a book that took up so much of my time that people thought I was depressed because I would never leave the house.
“A Court of Thorns and Roses” (for simplicity’s sake, let’s refer to the book as ACOTAR) tells the story of a young mortal huntress named Feyre Archeron, who lives in a world divided between the human realm and the faerie realm.
Feyre’s world is harsh and dangerous. Her family is struggling to make ends meet and their bleak existence is marked by constant worry and fear, as they live on the fringes of society, cut off from the support and comfort that most people enjoy.
One day, while hunting in the forest, she kills a wolf, only to discover that it is a faerie in disguise. As retribution, she is taken captive by a powerful High Fae lord named Tamlin and brought to his estate in the mystical faerie realm of Prythian.
As Feyre adjusts to her new life in the faerie court, she uncovers dark secrets and political intrigues that threaten not only her life but also the fragile peace between the faeries and the mortal world.
And of course, she finds herself drawn into a dangerous and passionate romance.
It wouldn’t be a fantasy book without some steamyness. 🫣
With its intricate world-building, complex characters, and yes, a healthy dose of steaminess, ACOTAR is a book that ensnared my imagination and kept me spellbound from start to finish. It’s a testament to the power of literature to transport us to other realms, to make us question our assumptions, and to ignite our passions. While it may have temporarily turned me into a book hermit, I wouldn’t trade the time I spent within its pages for anything else.
