Television. Everyone’s favorite pastime.
It has had such a profound impact on the evolution of humanity, and its influence extends across various aspects of society, culture, communication, and even cognitive development.
I developed new friendships with shows. I was exposed to new cultures thanks to Korean dramas, Spanish movies, and many more. But most importantly, my favorite memories from my childhood revolve around television.
I remember my mom and sister’s excitment every Friday for the new Vampire Diaries episode and our obsession with the dance scene between Elena and Damon.
I remember rewatching Twilight every night before bed with my mom.
I remember aggressively fighting my sister for the TV remote. Since she is the younger sister, she always lost those battles. Sorry Phoebe.
I think of the Jackass Movie my sister and I watched on April fool’s and the porta potty prank that made her throw up.
I think of the time my family passed out in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” right when Dumblore died. I remember being in complete shatters, only to look at my right and see my mom snoozing, mouth wide open.
Movies and TV shows are so personal to me, that I would not be able to single out my favorites. I can only remember being a little girl again. My sister has her horizontal bangs and a beautiful tan. And my mom is somehow sleeping, only for her to wake up at the end and say:
“The movie was alright…”
To this day, she still somehow passes out, and I laugh every time.
